About David Brannenpi photos 014 5.jpg

Formerly an occupational therapist, I am now a personal injury lawyer with the Halifax office of Cantini Law Group

I only represent people who have been injured by the negligence or intentional actions of others. My practice focuses on serious personal injury cases, including automobile accident cases, traumatic brain injury cases,  spinal cord injury cases, wrongful death cases, whiplash and chronic pain cases, and elder abuse and nursing home negligence cases.

I also represent people in disability-related insurance cases, such as long term disability claims/appeals and Canada Pension Plan (CPP) claims and appeals.

I was born in Brampton, Ontario, but grew up on Cape Sable Island in Southwestern Nova Scotia. After high school I attended Dalhousie University and graduated from the School of Occupational Therapy in 1997, with a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy.

Following graduation, I worked as an occupational therapist in both Canada and the United States. I have worked in hospitals, private clinics, nursing homes, mental health centres, and rehabilitation centers. I have worked with clients experiencing many conditions, including strokes, traumatic brain injuries, fractured hips, spinal cord injuries, quadriplegia, paraplegia, chronic pain, Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Cancer.

I returned to Dalhousie University in 1999 and graduated with a Master of Science (Occupational Therapy) degree in 2002 and a law degree in 2004. As part of my legal training, I received a specialization in health law and policy from the Dalhousie Health Law Institute.

While completing my master of science and law degrees, I was a part-time faculty member in the Dalhousie Faculty of Health Professions , and taught courses to students at the School of Occupational Therapy. I continue to give guest lectures on legal issues within the Faculty of Health Professions.

I believe my background as health professional makes my legal services unique. I understand injuries, medical conditions, and the rehabilitation process. I believe in a team-approach and will work closely with your family, your doctor, your health professionals, and your employer, to make sure you get the rehabilitation and things you need in order to get on with your life.

I have been working in the area of personal injury law since 2002, when I began at  the law firm Patterson Palmer as a summer law student. When not working, I spend my time reading, hiking, running, snowboarding, playing golf, and publishing this weblog.

I offer a free initial consultation to injured persons, their families, and friends. I will explain your legal rights, the legal process, and the role of your lawyer. You can visit me at my office, or I can come and visit you.

I am based in Halifax, but I represent people all over Nova Scotia, including Digby, Yarmouth, Barrington Passage, Shelburne, Liverpool, Bridgewater, Lunenburg, Chester, Dartmouth, Windsor, Kentville, New Glasgow, Antigonish, and Cape Breton. My firm, Cantini Law Group, also has an office in Moncton, New Brunswick.
